Good Old Home Cooking

Tips from dog.lifetips.com

A healthy alternative to feeding your dog commercial dog food is to cook it yourself. This way, you'll know exactly what your dog is eating he won't be consuming meat by-products and preservatives that are in many commercial dog foods.

You can try some of the following to see what you canine likes:

• Ground turkey, Chicken wings and thighs
• Brown Rice
• Vegetables such as carrots, corn, peas, and squash
• Most nuts (excluding macadamia nuts, which is toxic to your dog)
• Oatmeal

Avoid onions, garlic, sugary foods and salt. If you keep your food list simple and are consistent, you'll find that home cooked meals are an inexpensive way to keep your dog healthy and resistant to disease.

Crate Location

Tips from dog.lifetips.com

When crate training it's a good idea to remember that, although every dog needs his own space, canines are pack animals. Because of this they have an instinctual desire to be near the other members of their family.

It's a good idea to place the dog crate in a bedroom where your puppy can be near a family member when sleeping at night. It will make crate training less stressful to your puppy if he knows he is not alone at night. You'll also be able to know if your puppy needs to go out at night.

Stop Chewing!

Anyone who owns a dog or puppy should already know that one of the biggest problems usually tends to be the fact that they all chew at some point. The bad thing about chewing is that it is so very difficult to train them not to chew on things, no matter what you have tried. Well, in this article I am hoping to provide you with some helpful information that could possibly help you to teach your dog properly on how not to chew on things that they are not supposed to chew on. It is very important for everyone to understand that giving your dog plenty of praise will get you so much further than spanking their bottoms or anything else will. Every dog, big or small, just adores the fact that their owner is pleased with them and pampers and praises them for every little thing that they do well, this is why it is so important for all dog owners to try and start some new dog training techniques and begin doing more bragging, rather than fussing. You should see a difference very quickly whenever you begin applying these different techniques that I am going to discuss with you in this article.

Our dogs are animals and they do naturally want to chew on something but sometimes they just do not realize that it is bad to chew on certain things, until you teach them differently, in the proper manner. Whenever you do see your dog chewing on something, do not hit them, perhaps try using a certain tone to your voice that would definitely get their attention. Pay close attention so that whenever you see them chewing on something that they are supposed to chew on, you will then have the opportunity to praise them and love on them, they just eat that kind of stuff up, absolutely! Once you do this consistently they will begin remembering that they get praised and bragged on for some of the things that they chew on and they will attempt to chew on their things more than they will your things, that they are not supposed to be chewing on.

Dog training should not be a painful experience or even frustrating, it should be an enjoyable experience, for the owner and their dog as well. This is the perfect time for you to do all of the rewarding that you see fit, and more, this is the time for your dog to grow and learn and begin behaving as you would want him to. This experience will require a great deal of patience on your behalf and if you can stick with it and really give it all that you have, your dog will reap from all of the wonderful benefits and he will then begin progressing just as you had hoped. The internet is a fantastic place to locate tons of different and very helpful information regarding your pets and training them properly.

Positive Dog Training

Its Time To Understand More About Positive Dog Training

There is so much to understand about our dogs and if you can really concentrate on new and more efficient ways of dog training them then you will soon see that it really does work and they will start to listen to your commands. It is very important for you to find exactly what works with your dog, because they are all quite different. However, with that said, they are all the same when it comes to wanting their owners approval and rewards for doing a good job and listening to them. If you can be consistent with your dog by rewarding him each and every time that he does something right, then he will quickly pick up on the fact that you will be there to give him praise, along with treats ofcourse, and he will learn to do good all the time eventually. It is really not that complicated, even though sometimes it just feels so exhausting I know. I am certain that many of you have had your fair share of pets, including many stubborn dogs, or so that is what you call them. Well, the mistakes that you made with your dog, if things did not work out, all probably had to do with your negative dog training skills, which you might not have been aware of.

Dogs are very smart animals and they too, just like us, love to be appreciated and patted on the back when they do something well but some owners constantly fuss at their animals for everything that they do wrong, which is really a big mistake. It is important for you to find ways to get your dog to listen because if you stick with it every single time, eventually it will sink in and they will start doing what you want them to do. Most dogs absolutely love getting treats, so for potty training, this is something that is seriously a must. If you reward them with a dog treat each time that they go potty where they are supposed to, then chances are they will continue going in the right places and before you know it, you will have a well potty trained dog, in which you would probably want to brag on to everyone that comes around.

Dog training is not always easy and it can be so very tiring and aggravating, especially when your dog just does not seem to be catching on. The important thing to remember is to not give up on him, if you truly stick to your guns with this, he will finally catch on and once he does, he will be one well behaved dog that you can enjoy for a very long time. Finding as much information as you can about training your dog is very important and really do take it seriously because it is important to have a well behaved animal, you will be totally surprised by the results from all of the hard work.

Here's
6 Steps to Successful Crate Training by Juliette Cunliffe
  1. Tell the puppy 'Crate time!' and place him in the create with a small treat (a piece of cheese or half of a biscuit). Let him stay in the crate for five minutes while out are in the same room. Then release him when he is fussing. Wait until he is quiet before you let him out.
  2. Repeat step 1 several times a day.
  3. The next day, place the puppy in the crate as before. Let him stay there for ten minutes. Do this several times.
  4. Continue building time in five minutes increments until the puppy stays in his crate for 30 minutes with you in the room. Always take him to his relief area after prolonged periods in his crate.
  5. Now go back to Step 1 and let the puppy stay in his crate for five minutes, this time while you are out of the room.
  6. Once again, build crate time in five-minute increments with you out of the room. When the puppy will stay willingly in his crate (he may even fall asleep!) for 30 minutes with you out of the room, he will be ready to stay in it for several hours at a time.
Always remember, the keys to success house-training method are consistency, frequency, praise, control and supervision.
